This project documents Luo culture in fashion through videography and photography.
The team consists of Sharon Wendo, the jewellery designer behind Epica Jewellery, Idah Aluoch, the designer behind the swimwear brand Paxwear, and Judy Rose Semo, the stylist and costume curator behind Nyandisa Styling.
Combining their brand resources and skills, the team developed a collection with a cohesive cultural identity . The team travelled to Kisumu with photographer Rodgers Ojwook and videographer Henry Robinson to shoot six looks within the city and around Lake Victoria. This was a journey of cultural exploration, showcasing the beauty and pride of the Luo community. Together, the team built an accessible body of work that is cemented within existing cultural knowledge and can be used for future fashion-related references.
