“RURAL FILM ART SCREENINGS” CREATING ALTERNATIVE SCREENING PLATFORMS IN THE RURAL COMMUNITIES OF THE EASTERN CAPE
The project was based in Ngqoko Village in Eastern Cape, where heritage, culture and arts are present, but without much activity to understand audience development and community engagement. The main aim was to work with the youth of Ngqoko Village, who are also artists and have a keen interest in creative skills development. The aim was to screen films that inspire them and also develop an audience platform with community participation in arts and culture. The project trained the participants on what it means to understand the use of filmmaking and also screened creative films to share awareness on important topics. The project aimed to re-create an audience and platform for rural creative youth and creatives that reside in rural Eastern Cape and also drive tourists back to the area.
